Today being our cream tea, the committee worked hard to decorate the hall for Halloween with spiders, cobwebs, special table cloths and even a raven and a couple of black cats! Jackie and Chris dressed up as witches though no-one seemed particularly scared!
The cream tea was thoroughly enjoyed. Once again the Old Rock Shop Bistro had excelled itself with the quality of the scones, jam and clotted cream; all excellent, proved by the fact that there weren’t many left!
Shirley Davies and her colleague (apologies that I omitted to ask her name!) came to represent the Friends of Cromer Hospital. Jackie explained that thanks to a stall she and Chris ran at Trimingham Trosh there was a further £100 to be added to our original cheque. We are therefore thrilled to be able to donate £600 towards kitting out the new cancer unit. Shirley thanked us profusely and commented that the unit should be ready for use next year which is wonderful news.
Our fundraising for the hospital will continue until the end of the financial year in March with the collection box a constant presence at our meetings.
The meeting was full of fun and laughter and Jackie’s beautiful table decorations were raffled at the end.
Please come and meet us. You may like us and want to stay! The next meeting will be on 13th November at 2 pm as usual. Jackie will give a talk on the history and traditions of Christmas. We will meet in the Overstrand Sports Pavilion, which is our regular venue, and an entrance fee of just £3 will cover light refreshments. For further information please contact Chris Wood, Secretary, on 01263 579433 or Jackie, our Chairman, on 01263 720866.
